National Elementary Honor Society

 

In order to be eligible to join the National Elementary Honor Society at Summersill Elementary School, students must meet high standards in Scholarship, Responsibility, Service, and Leadership. Students are invited for membership by a principal-appointed council.

Membership in our chapter is open to current 3rd and 4th graders who demonstrate leadership qualities while meeting requirements such as being on the Principal's List, Honor Roll, maintaining good attendance, and having zero office referrals.

In the spring, eligible 3rd grade students will receive an invitation to fill out a Candidate Form, sharing information about their leadership and service.

All submissions and faculty input are thoughtfully reviewed by our faculty council. Upon a majority vote, candidates will be informed of their selection status according to a predetermined timeline.

A special induction ceremony is held to honor our new members, and once inducted, students are encouraged to continue their excellent performance in all four areas.

We are excited to welcome new members and celebrate their achievements!

Every year, members participate in two service projects which are focused on bettering our school community and bettering the Jacksonville community.  As our program progresses, students will brainstorm their ideas and present them to administration to be approved.
