Mrs. Donna Chadwick

Welcome to Summersill Elementary School! I am delighted to be the principal at the most amazing school in Onslow County! Our staff thrives on meeting the needs of our students. While our goal is to academically challenge our students, we also hope to develop life-long learners.

I began my teaching career in 1995 as a first grade teacher at Morton Elementary. I transferred to Jacksonville Commons Elementary School in 1996, where I taught first grade for three years.  I became a stay- at- home mom after our first daughter was born.  I returned to the classroom part time in 2004, as a 3rd grade reading tutor at Swansboro Elementary. I also taught 3rd-5th grade reading and was the Title 1 Parent Liaison part-time in 2008-2009 at Swansboro Elementary.  I worked as the Reading Specialist at Swansboro Elementary for eight years prior to becoming the assistant principal at Jacksonville Commons Elementary. I was the assistant principal at Jacksonville Commons Elementary for four years prior to being the assistant principal at Jacksonville Commons Middle. This year marks my second year as principal at the best hidden gem in Onslow County Schools! I am proud to be an Eagle and I am ready to help our students SOAR!

I am a Data Teams Trainer for Onslow County Schools, a member of the Literacy Taskforce, AVID trained, UNCW Site Coordinator, Onslow County's 2019-2020 Literacy Administrator of the Year, and Onslow County School's Assistant Principal of the Year for 2020-2021.

I am happily married with two daughters. Our oldest daughter is a Morehead Cain Scholar at UNC-Chapel Hill and is currently a consultant in Charlotte. Our youngest daughter is a Goodnight Scholar at North Carolina State University majoring in Biology. My husband and I enjoy camping, swimming, walking our dog, Forrest, as well as visiting with our family and friends.
